How It All Happened:

Back in September of 2002, I bought my first pinball machines and video games at an annual show in the Bay Area known as the “California Extreme.”  These games were:  Stern’s “Meteor”(pinball), Williams “Disco Fever”(pinball), Stern’s “Scramble”(upright video game), Seibu Kaihatsu’s “Raiden”(upright video game), and Konami’s “Gyruss”(cocktail table video game).  I decided to put the machines in my garage and turn it into a game room.

As some time passed, I started to read up on the machines I’d purchased, and began to tinker with them.  I enlisted the help of my neighbor Dave to assist me with the more difficult tasks of diagnosing electronic problems.  One afternoon while I was waiting for Dave to stop by, I left my garage door open and killed some time looking over some information I’d gotten online about troubleshooting video games.  It didn’t take much time for people passing by to notice all of the wonderful machines I had been collecting.  Before long, a fellow stopped in, asking if I knew how to repair these types of games.  I responded that I was only an admirer and not too savvy when it came to electronic repairs.  By the time Dave arrived, a small crowd had developed consisting of people whom either owned, or were shopping around for pinball machines and video games.  This was the beginning of my small business.

Pacifica is a small, family oriented town.  It is known for its annual Fog Festival and lush beaches, and is a very beautiful place to live. However, not even the thickest fog bank could stop people from coming to my garage to ask the now common question “DO YOU…?”  This development had me seriously pondering the possibility of finding my own niche in the business.

It wasn’t long after that my neighbor Dave and I began to envision a shop/ game room that would cater to Pacifican’s gaming needs.  Since I live on a major thoroughfare, getting noticed wasn’t a problem.  This was especially true for city vehicles, passing by at all hours to keep a watchful eye on the champagne colored house with the pinball machines and video games in the garage.  (Thanks guys).  I was granted a home occupation business license and Pacifica Pinball Plus was born.  As word spread around town that I was doing this as my second job the outlook was promising.  However, I do recall mixed feelings about the attention when I witnessed the near miss of a car accident that occurred because of rubbernecking drivers.

It didn’t take long before the queue of customers in need of service forced me to move my personal games into storage.  I outgrew the garage in short order, and in 2005 relocated to 580 Crespi Dr. Unit J in Pacifica.  I now have a warehouse full of employees and two offices, but my mission remains the same:  In order to operate we must exceed our goals in customer satisfaction. You won’t find any quick fixes here.  We specialize in complete pinball, video game, and jukebox restoration.

If you ever find yourself in Pacifica be sure to stop by our warehouse and see what we have to offer.  You are also invited to come and try out some of our games.
